DisplayTune and anti-cheat
The first question every player asks: will this get me in trouble with anti-cheat? Here is exactly what DisplayTune does, what it never does, and honest advice for competitive games.
What the app does
- Brightness, contrast, gamma, temperature — through the GPU gamma ramp, a standard Windows mechanism also used by calibration and Night light.
- Saturation — through the official NVIDIA and AMD driver interfaces, the same setting as "Digital vibrance" in the NVIDIA Control Panel. Above 200% — a Windows color filter.
- Crosshair and black holo — separate transparent windows on top of the screen.
What it never does
- Never injects into the game process or loads libraries into it.
- Never reads or modifies game memory, never touches game files (except the explicit "Optimize game" action for Rust, which only edits graphics lines in client.cfg).
- Never highlights enemies or gets any data that is not on your screen.
Why that matters
Easy Anti-Cheat, BattlEye, VAC and Vanguard look for interference with the game: injected code, memory reads, modified files. A driver-level color change is not that — otherwise everyone who raised digital vibrance in the NVIDIA panel would be banned, and that is a standard setting for many CS2 and Valorant pros.
Honest recommendations
| Game | Color (saturation, gamma) | Custom crosshair overlay |
|---|---|---|
| Rust | yes | yes — that is what it was built for |
| CS2 | yes | use the in-game crosshair |
| Valorant | yes | use the in-game crosshair |
| Tarkov, DayZ, PUBG | yes | your call |

Frequently asked questions
Can you get banned for digital vibrance in Valorant?
Saturation is changed by the graphics driver, just like NVIDIA "Digital vibrance". Many Valorant players use raised vibrance.
Can anti-cheat see DisplayTune?
Anti-cheat can see running programs like any others. DisplayTune does not interact with the game process: no injection, no memory reads.
Is the black holo allowed on Rust servers?
It is a recolor of the image on screen in a separate window; the app never touches the game. Individual server rules may differ — check with the server admins.
