Brightness and contrast in CS2
CS2 has few dark corners, but they exist: doorways, tunnels, spots under stairs. The right brightness makes them readable; too much turns the picture into grey mush.
In-game brightness
CS2 video settings have a brightness slider. Tune it in a dark spot on a map: raise it until you can see detail in the darkest corner, and stop when bright walls start losing texture.
Boost Player Contrast
Advanced video settings include Boost Player Contrast. It makes player models slightly more contrasty against the surroundings. Most players keep it on.
GPU gamma and brightness
| Setting | Recommendation | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Gamma | 1.0–1.1 | Maps are mostly bright |
| Brightness | 100 | Otherwise blacks turn grey |
| Contrast | 100–105 | A bit more "density" |
| Saturation | 150–170% | The main setting for visibility |
The monitor matters most
If blacks look grey and colors are dull, check the RGB range in the driver first — full vs limited RGB. BenQ Zowie monitors have Black eQualizer and Color Vibrance — see monitor settings for CS2. Vibrance values are in CS2 digital vibrance.
Ready-made presets for CS2, Valorant, Overwatch 2, Call of Duty, Dota 2, League of Legends and 20 more games: the profile turns on when the game starts and turns off when you leave. Saturation up to 350%, NVIDIA, AMD and Intel. First day free.

Frequently asked questions
How do I make CS2 brighter?
Raise brightness in the game's video settings, keep Boost Player Contrast on and, if needed, add a little gamma (up to 1.1) in the driver panel or DisplayTune.
What does Boost Player Contrast do?
It makes player models more contrasty against the surroundings, so they are easier to spot against walls.
Does CS2 need high gamma like Rust at night?
No, CS2 maps are bright. High gamma makes the picture flat and grey.
