Windows has a hidden Ultimate Performance power plan: the CPU does not drop its clocks, cores do not "park" and devices stay out of power saving. For games that means fewer micro-delays during sudden load spikes.
What the plan changes

Enable it by hand
- Open PowerShell or Command Prompt as administrator.
- Run the command below — it adds the plan to the list.
- Control Panel → Power Options → select Ultimate Performance.

Why dozens of copies appear
The command above creates a new copy of the plan every time. Many "optimizers" run it on every click, and you end up with dozens of identical Ultimate Performance plans. To delete the extras:
powercfg /list
powercfg /delete <GUID of the extra plan>You cannot delete the active plan — switch to the one you want first. DisplayTune creates its own "DisplayTune Ultimate" plan once, with a fixed ID, so repeated runs never create copies.
When you do not need it
- Laptop on battery — it drains faster and runs hotter. DisplayTune changes settings for AC power only.
- Quiet office PC — no gain, and the fans may spin up more often.
- Overheating — if the CPU already hits its thermal limit, the plan will not help.
